Misty Rose has worked with children and families for over 30 years.  Her experiences range from teaching kindergarten and remedial reading to managing child care programs and working for various social service agencies.

Misty earned her Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education with an emphasis in Reading from Texas Tech University and her Master's degree in Education from Drury College.  Misty began her career as a Kindergarten teacher.  Frequent moves during her husband's military career provided Misty with a lot of opportunities to expand her skills in education in a variety of environments.  She worked with Girl Scouts USA and Big Brothers/Big Sisters and managed several programs in Child Care Resource and Referral, School-Age Child Care, and Child Care Centers.

In 2006, Misty learned how to combine her love of working with children with her passion for reading.  She trained as a one-on-one reading tutor with the Barton Reading and Spelling System, and since then, has helped over 60 children to improve their reading ability.  She has taught reading to students from grades 1 - 10.

In 2011, Misty decided to take her teaching skills to a new level and enrolled in the Reading Specialist Certificate Program at the University of California, San Diego, earning that certificate in 2012.

In 2018, Misty completed the Wilson Reading System training, providing yet another means of meeting the needs of her students.
